GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 225243
Evolution consequently fails to verify clearsigned PGP messages
Last modified: 2002-05-29 01:49:36 UTC
Description of Problem: When sending *clearsigned* PGP messages to evolution, it consequently fails to verify them Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Use this example: -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence." - - Albert Einstein -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE87jPG1nCigyjxbDURAs6eAKCeriHnWld42xkIEnAMBi3rwhCG1ACfevG5 D0cKQ6aSSgmANE74IpaDojE= =u3Sy -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Send it as is to a mail account (and import my key ID 28F16C35). Now click on the lock in evolution, it says: "gpg: armor header: Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) gpg: Signature made Fri 24 May 2002 14:36:22 CEST using DSA key ID 28F16C35 gpg: BAD signature from "Guy Van Sanden <Guy.Van.Sanden@Pandora.be>"" Save the message to a file test.asc run "gpg --verify test.asc", it gives: "gpg: Signature made Fri 24 May 2002 14:36:22 CEST using DSA key ID 28F16C35 gpg: Good signature from "Guy Van Sanden <Guy.Van.Sanden@Pandora.be>"" 2. Note that no PGP/Mime extensions where used. Additional Information: Running evoluiton 1.0.5 / gpg 1.0.7 on SuSE 8.0
