Description Peter A. Goodall 2002-04-23 17:01:26 UTC
When I recieve a web link in my e-mail it would be nice to have more
options than, "Open in brower" and "Copy link address". The problem with
"Open in browswer" is that it open another browser window and it opens it
in the current desktop (I have galeon running in a seperate desktop). The
"Copy link address" works fine, but it means that I have to go back to
Galeon, open a new tab, use CTRL+0 to get the open link dialog, click on
the [ Clear ] button, and use CTRL+V or middle-click to paste the link in,
and click [ OK ]. What can I say...I'm lazy.

It would be nice to have an option like in X-Chat where I have the choice
of which brower in which to open the link, whether I want to open it in a
new window, an existing window, or a new tab. Very nice.

Comment 4 Peter A. Goodall 2006-01-06 15:33:18 UTC
Wow. I wrote this bug nearly four years ago, and things have changed considerably. While I still think this option could be useful for a power user I no longer see the point in a doing this work. Currently, if I click on a link it opens in my existing Firefox instance thanks to desktop-launch, and opens in a new tab thanks for the Firefox preferences. From a usability perspective this bug is resolved for me. However, this might make a nice bounty for someone. It might work well as part of a plugin.

I don't see the point either now. Closing this as OBSOLETE.
