GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 220417
"Send Mail" filter action
Last modified: 2009-07-27 04:13:35 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 1.0.2 Synopsis: Missing Feature suggestion Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Miscellaneous Description: First, I must commend you guys on the fine job you've done with Evolution. It's great to finally see some Linux apps that have good clean interfaces. I have just one suggestion. The only thing that is keeping me from completely dumping MS Outlook and using just Evolution is the lack of a autoresponse feature based on mail rules. In outlook, you can easily send responses based on mail rules/filters. Most often I used it for "out of office replys" or "This email address is a spam catcher, if you are human, contact me at ready242(at)yahoo.com" I'd guess that it wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement, and it's the only obvious feature missing when comaring Evolution to Outlook. Thanks again for developing such a fine product. Sincerely, Jeff Unknown reporter: ready242@yahoo.com, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com.
could this become an eplugin perhaps? related to bug 204891
reassigning jpr's old evolution\miscellaneous bugs to harish
this can actually be done using a "pipe to command" filter by telling evo to run a shell script that tosses an email off to sendmail or something... tho it would probably be nicer if said shell script could integrate with evo by hooking into evo's send queue rather than using sendmail directly.
Bumping version to a stable release.
Thunderbird have this feature : "Replay with Template" in the actions list of filters. Is a serious deficiency that make Evolution useless for serious email work.
Something very close to this had been done within bug #204891, is it enough for you?
ping, any update ?
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug; however, closing due to lack of response of the reporter, sorry. if you still see this issue with a current release of evolution (2.26.3 or later), please reopen. thanks in advance.
