GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 219592
Trash folder broken
Last modified: 2005-11-15 02:22:21 UTC
Description of Problem: When messages are deleted from any folder in Evolution, they go to the Trash folder on the imap mail store, where they stay until the trash is emptied (I leave messages in trash for a while as a safety). However, these messages, even though they are in a trash folder, do not show up in the Trash folder when this same imap mail store is viewed via Communicator or Mozilla mail. Or, with webmail, for that matter. The deleted messages DO show up as undeleted in these other mail programs. Which isn't right. If there is a folder named Trash in Evolution, then I expect to see a folder named "Trash" in the imap store, and I expect that folder to have trashed mail in it. Steps to reproduce the problem: 0. Set up imap mail store in Evolution 1. Delete mail message from Inbox in Evolution 2. See it in "Trash" folder 3. Open another mail program (Netscape and Mozilla, here) 4. Inspect the Trash folder Actual Results: The Trash folder will be empty. Expected Results: The Trash folder should have trashed mail in it. How often does this happen? Every single time. Additional Information: Even in MS Outlook, deleted messages get copied/moved to the "Deleted Items" folder when they are deleted from the Inbox. They might still be in the Inbox until expunged, but they are copied to the "trash" folder, but they exist in "Deleted Items". Also, "Expunge" and "Emtpy Trash" should do two different things. Currently in Evo they seem to do the same thing, but "Empty Trash" seems to do it to ALL folders, which isn't right. Empty trash should remove items from the trash folder on that mail store.
