GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 216590
"Unmatched" vfolder not refreshing automatically
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you are doing. Description of Problem: The Unmached VFolder only updates when I click on it, thus it doesn't have a current number of unread messages next to it. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Recieve an email that doesn't match and Vfolders 2. Note that the Unmached folder doesn't show any new messages untill clicking on it. This appears to happen consistantly. Someone brought up this problem on the gnome-list. See: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2001-December/msg00042.html http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-list/2001-December/msg00043.html
pretty sure this is a duplicate.
saying it depends on 23985 to track it. FWIW this particular bug doesn't make sense because the unmatched vfolder NEVER updates, as such, it is always valid and uptodate immediately. Its not a normal folder.
This has gotten weirder since my original post. I'm not sure if it's related, but at the moment, I'm getting duplicate messages to my "Mail to Me" vfolder and to "Unmatched". I can delete the message from "Mail to Me" and it'll still be unread in "Unmatched". If I then mark the "Unmatched" copy of the email as read, and then unread, it will show back up in "Mail to Me" instantly. This only happens with my "Mail to Me" vfolder. (Let me know if I should file this as a seperate bug report.)
ok, first, unamtched wont update the "unread" count till you open it - it's to save memory for people who dont use it. It is intended behaviour. so i'm closing the bug. duplicates can happen if you have vfolders of vfolders, but the behaviour does sounds weird. File another bug only if it happens with 1.1.x, i'm not sure if some recent fixes made it to 1.0.8 or not. although that will probably only be set to depend on the vfolder rewrite anyway as the duplicate problem isn't that easy to fix with the curent codebase.
I just had a situation where I almost missed an important meeting because the Unmatched folder doesn't show howmany unread messages it has. The group with which I am working had just set up an alias, but I had neglected to add a vfolder for it. The meeting announcements then wound up in "Unmathced". If the concern is the overhead of having it scan everything for those who don't use it, (a) is it really that much overhead? (b) the vfolder editor dialog be altered so that it could create an Unmatched vfolder?
is this with 1.1.1?
Closing due to lack of response. Presumed fixed.
