GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 215742
PGP Mails in Evolution RC2 not working with MS Outlook 2000
Last modified: 2002-04-01 05:21:17 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 0.99.2 Synopsis: PGP Mails in Evolution RC2 not working with MS Outlook 2000 Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Description: Basically, signed, encrypted or mails with attachments that are encrypted are not working properly with EVolution rc2 when they are received by Outlook 2000. The mail is received as 2 separate dat files. One wxhich has no PGP information and jsut has the PGP version number and the other dat file which can be saved and then turned into a .asc file through renaming and then decrypted/verifed for its recipient will yield a straight text file which is created without an extension. if you change this to a .txt file you can then read the message, but the attachment is still uuencoded as base64 text in the body of the text and difficlt to get out. It is a real pain to use the PGP encryption in Evolution with Outlook. I think you *really* need to get this fixed if you want someone to be able to switch over to Evolution and still communicate with Windows users. Keep up the fantastic work though!!! Very happy with Evolution other than that. Relevant software: Evoluiton 0.99.2 rc2, GPG 1.06 postfix mail server on the Win box: Win2000, Outlook 2000, PGP for personal privacy 6.5.8 with Outlook plugins.
