Description Tuomas Kuosmanen 2001-10-18 09:49:15 UTC
Description of Problem:
When I click the ABCDE... buttons on the right
side of the addressbook, it seems to do a
   quick search for
"Name begins with [letter on the button]".

However, this is not reflected on the quick
search bar above the address cards, nor is
anyway visible that the user doesnt see all
   of his/her cards.

Expected Results:

What if the buttons just scrolled to the
beginning of that letter in the list? So that
the list always had all those contacts visible
but it would just jump to that section,
pretty much like if you have those "letter
tabs" on a real physical phone directory.

   It would be less confusing.

1.1 UI polish?
Comment 2 Chris Lahey 2001-11-08 09:46:14 UTC
It used to do the jumping and the what not, but that's much harder
with the current architecture. I also actually like this behavior
better. However, Tuomas is correct in that the filter bar needs to be
changed when the user clicks here, so I'm changing the summary to
reflect that.
Comment 3 Ben Liblit 2001-11-08 10:23:50 UTC
See also bug 210734, which proposes a UI change for the alphabet bar
that should also help to make the filtering state more clear. This is
not a duplicate bug, but the two are related.
Comment 4 Luis Villa 2001-11-26 17:04:26 UTC
Because of the decision to remap 1.1->1.2 and 1.2->1.4, I'm going to be
moving a large number of bugs around in the bugzilla. You can just
search on 'body contains' 'Because of the decision to remap' and mark
all as read. Please direct all questions about this change to
evolution@ximian.com, not the bug.
