Description Nat Friedman 2001-10-12 19:14:17 UTC
These were removed for Evo 1.0 but should go in for 1.1.
Comment 1 Nat Friedman 2001-10-12 19:14:28 UTC
Setting to 1.1.
Comment 2 Luis Villa 2001-11-26 17:04:03 UTC
Because of the decision to remap 1.1->1.2 and 1.2->1.4, I'm going to be
moving a large number of bugs around in the bugzilla. You can just
search on 'body contains' 'Because of the decision to remap' and mark
all as read. Please direct all questions about this change to
evolution@ximian.com, not the bug.
Luis

What work will this require from the docs side of things? Will these
buttons just be links to the main help docs?
Comment 4 Ettore Perazzoli 2002-02-14 18:45:59 UTC
Yes.
Comment 5 Gerardo Marin 2003-02-13 05:55:04 UTC
Ettore: this hardly can be a 1.4 critical goal. 1.6 at best.
Comment 6 Gerardo Marin 2003-11-30 00:58:37 UTC
Downing to major
Comment 7 Ettore Perazzoli 2003-12-02 21:03:42 UTC
Are we even doing this for 2.0?
Comment 8 aaron 2003-12-02 21:08:50 UTC
It should be possible to have a button link to a particular section of
the manual, and if we can do this for one or more dialogs I'd like to
see it done. If there's not room or time, then we can definitely skip
it-- it should be relatively easy to do, although it might be a hassle
to revise the UI to fit in a (?) button.
Comment 9 Gerardo Marin 2004-01-27 17:19:23 UTC
Moving all 1.5.3 reports to 1.5.4 milestone. Sorry for the spam.
Comment 10 JP Rosevear 2005-01-19 19:35:18 UTC
review dialogs that need help button

Comment 12 Rodney Dawes 2005-02-04 16:59:41 UTC
The Event/Task/Contact editor dialogs all have Help buttons now in
them. Bumping this to 2.3 for review of other dialogs in Evolution
that could use the Help button.
Comment 13 André Klapper 2005-07-13 21:43:01 UTC
reassigning to harish... mind the UI freeze :-)
Comment 14 Calum Benson 2005-07-28 10:36:44 UTC
Apologies for any spam... cc'ing usability-maint on all Evolution usability
bugs. Filter on EVO-USABILITY-SPAM to ignore.
Comment 15 André Klapper 2005-09-13 14:48:46 UTC
retargetting to 2.5
Comment 16 Harish Krishnaswamy 2006-01-06 07:14:05 UTC
Assigning it to Srinivasa Ragavan for a review of other dialogs.
Comment 17 Joachim Noreiko 2006-01-10 14:57:02 UTC
Does this cover the lack of a Help button in the First-Run Assistant?
Comment 18 Calum Benson 2006-01-18 16:40:07 UTC
As per the HIG, assistants shouldn't have (or require) a Help button:

Comment 19 André Klapper 2006-06-18 12:04:50 UTC
removing old target milestone.
Comment 20 André Klapper 2012-02-21 15:20:14 UTC
It was already a PITA to find all help buttons used in Evolution, as helper functions are not consistently used.

There is e_display_help() but often it is not used, so I also had to grep for "help_section". Everything should use e_display_help().
It would be very welcome to have some skeleton code to reuse posted here so this could theoretically picked up and worked on by non-technical people.

Comment 22 Milan Crha 2016-03-04 09:46:19 UTC
Current (3.19.91) status:
   Event/Memo/Task editor - has Help->Help menu
   Contact Editor - has a button at the bottom-left
   Edit->Preferences - has a button at the bottom-left, sensitive to
       selected parts of the dialog

No Help at:
   Contact List Editor
   Mail Account wizard/editor
   Edit->Message filters (neither in the rule editor)
   Edit->Search folders
   Edit->Plugins
   Message->Add note/Edit note
   Folder->Subscriptions
   Search->Advanced search
   Search->Edit saved searches

I do not have much overview on the sections provided in the Help, neither their names. If you can provide me with the help section names for these windows, then I can add buttons/menus there.
Comment 23 André Klapper 2021-05-19 12:27:16 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new bug report ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
