Description Magnus Ljung 2001-10-01 10:07:34 UTC
This is not a bug, it's purely for the wishlist.

It would be nice to be able to set the keyboard shortcuts used for all the
commands in evolution. I just started using evolution and before that I
used RMAIL in emacs so I'd like to be able to set the shortcut for "New
Message" to 'm' and "Expunge" to 'x' and so on.

I guess I'll learn the new shortcuts in a while, but it would be cool to be
able to select sets of shortcuts like you can in the preferences when
composing a mail.

I think such config options are more than nice - they're essential!
I'm used to "navigating" my mail with one hand using the arrow keys
and hitting the Del-key for deletion in YAM on AmigaOS and that's the
fastest and most productive way for me to handle my mail, and I'm not
happily going to use a client that won't let me continue doing this.
Each to their own, the config options must be there.

I use Gnome as my desktop, and almost all GTK+ apps have a feature
which allows you to add a menu shortcut by typing the shortcut while
hovering over the item. Handy. I was very startled to see that this
didn't work in Evolution; it uses GTK, right?

I can deal with new shortcuts after a while, but having _no_ shortcut
and no way to set one drives me batty.

marking as dup, bug 260522 is targetted and much more clear.
