GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 210887
Wish: There should be a possibility to accept incorrect ssl-certificates until they expire
Last modified: 2001-09-26 16:03:51 UTC
Please fill in this template when reporting a bug, unless you know what you are doing. Description of Problem: WISH: One of my mailboxes uses SSL-encryption during authentication. Luckily Evolution supports that, but because the certivifate is not registered Evo prompts me every time if I want to accept it. As my mail is checked every 10 minutes, this kind of behavior forces me to click yes every 10 minutes when Evo prompt wheter to accept the certificate or not. The correct behavior should be like when Netscape/Mozilla encounters unregistered SSL-certificates. When an unregistered certificate is encountered, the user should be able not only to accept the certificate for one session, but even for a longer period, e.g. until the certificate expires. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. install an imap-server with an unregistered certificate 2. add an mailbox that uses SSL in auth. 3. set evo to check mail every ten minutes Actual Results: a prompt for acception comes up every ten minutes Expected Results: it comes up the very first time, but never ever after that *if* the user does not want it to come How often does this happen? always. Additional Information: Go with Netscape to https://sange.fi/ and observe. Evo should have similar options to handle unregistered SSL-certificates.
