GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 210032
MS Outlook 2002 (XP) doesn't allow Content-ID within multipart/mixed
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:02:36 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Major Version: 0.13.99 Synopsis: MS Outlook 2002 (XP) doesn't recognize Evolution attachments. Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Mailer Description: MS Outlook 2002 (email client in Office XP) doesn't recognize any attachments in messages I send from Evolution. All other email clients, including Outlook 2000, work fine. There's something Evolution puts into the email message header that Outlook 2002 doesn't like. I verified the message gets delivered to the mail server with the attachment intact. Outlook 2002 just doesn't read the attachment or discards it after reading it. Unknown reporter: adavis@ibota.com, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com.
Oy.
maybe Outlook 2002 is just broken. isn't that beta software anyway? And seeing as how every other mailer recognizes our MIME fine, I suspect it's them who are broken.
If the version of Outlook 2002 that ships is broken, then we need to kludge around its brokenness. This needs more investigation.
from the original filer: --- I thought the same question about Outlook 2002 being beta. :) But it's not. Outlook 2002 is part of Office XP which is NOT beta, its in stores now. Windows XP OS is beta until next month. ---
Wow this is broken. Outlook 2002 will not display attachments that have a Content-ID header, unless they're part of a multipart/related. WTF. The workaround for this is for us to not set Content-ID on attachments, but only on inline images. (This does not create any loss of functionality.)
fixed in CVS.
Hey we also got new plugin named "TNEF Attachment decoder" available in latest svn head and will be available to evolution 2.12 version.
