Last modified: 2002-04-11 02:37:31 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 0.13 Synopsis: When using VNC from a remote PC, lauching Evolution opens up additional windows on Local Machine Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Shell Description: When connecting through VNC, I try to launch Evolution from the Programs menu and nothing appears to happen. Upon returning to my PC, however, I see multiple instances of Evolution running. Note that other applications, such as PAN, do not behave this way. Unknown reporter: brian@brightrock.com, changed to bugbuddy-import@ximian.com.
Is this still a problem with 0.14? There were some tweaks to how these things were done betweeen 0.13 and 0.14 that cured some similar problems (though over X and not VNC).
Sorry for the slow response. The same symptom occurs in .015 When trying to use Evolution through VNC, Evolution opens on screen 0 instead of the screen VNC is using.
The same problem occurs when launching evolution after logging in from another computer via SSH or TELNET - even though the DISPLAY environment variable is set up correctly. This is really annoying, since one of the great strengths of Unix and X11 is the ability of executing applications remotely.
