GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 206930
keyboard tabbing from folder list should jump to message list
Last modified: 2005-05-04 14:47:29 UTC
Package: Evolution Priority: Normal Version: 0.12.99 Synopsis: keyboard tabbing from folder list should jump to message list Bugzilla-Product: Evolution Bugzilla-Component: Shell Description: Currently tabbing off of the folder list jumps to the search bar. It takes several more tabs to get to the message list. This should focus on the message list immediately.
No idea how trivial/non-trivial or even correct this is. Anna: could you decide if this is correct or not? and if so, could someone on evolution-mail decide how long it would take to fix? If it is a quick fix, it should be done; if it is non-trivial b/c of bonobo-ish issues it should be futured.
We want to tab to the search bar. If you don't use a mouse (or can't use a mouse) how are you going to use the quicksearch bar?
Yes, obviously you want to tab to it eventually, but thats not to say it must be one tab away from the folder list. There should be one tab to go from the folder list to the message list, after this tab you can go through all the other elements that can get focus. I can always reverse tab to get back to the folder list.
Of course, this is not 1.0.
Neither aything before 1.4 so futuring.
Tab order should be: Folder list -> Message list -> Message -> Search type drop down -> Search Entry -> (Find Now) -> Clear -> Mail -> Contacts -> Calendars -> Tasks -> (Connector) It would be nice to remove the component buttons from the tab list since they have shortcut keys, but we should probably keep them for now.
I agree with Ben. Tab from folder list direct to message list would match my expectation of what the behaviour would be a fair bit better. AfC
adding version number.
