GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 204821
Addressbook Advanced searches can't be saved, although the UI implies that they ought to be savable.
Last modified: 2013-09-10 14:02:23 UTC
Repro: Select the Bigfoot LDAP server. Click on Search --> Advanced... Result: At the top of the dialog is a Rule name: field. This implies the ability to create saved/named rules. And yet, there is only the "Search" and "Close" buttons. Clicking on either of these fails to give a saved rule that can be reused.
Changing the subject from LDAP... to Addressbook... as this problem isn't unique to ldap.
As a result of the UI freeze today, I'm marking all remaining non-1.0 UI bugs to 'future'. Someone reading this should only change the target back to 1.0 under the following circumstances: 1) The change would not impact documentation. (i.e., 'how to do X' would not have to be changed in any way.) 2) The change would require trivial work for the programmers involved. Most likely, only the programmers themselves are able to judge this. So, if you are not on the evo team, or cannot provide a patch to them for this, you should probably not make any such changes. Sorry that this is going to impact so many irritating bugs, but we have to prioritize our limited resources.
The bug can be reproduced with 1.1.0.99
still valid in evolution-2.0.3.0.200501070910-0.snap.ximian.10.1. also refers to local addressbook.
Moving to 2.3.
either we make the searches saveable as reported here, or we change the string as described in bug 261736.
I think we should just give advanced search and not save search. Im closing this as wont fix. We should fix the other bug.
Srini: any reason why this can not be done?
253650 is another related bug.
Fix committed to cvs head. Advanced search in contacts can now be saved.
