Description Tuomas Kuosmanen 2001-07-03 10:25:41 UTC
Right now I have a ton of folders that all look the same, would be nice if
I could specify a custom icon, so my "Gimp developer" folder would have a
small Wilber head, and my "pdev" could have a Pointy-Haired-Boss icon and
my ximian folders could have a monkeybutton or something.

So Folder Properties could have a icon selector button.

Ettore says it is cool and I think it is a bug that it is not implemented
yet. But we still fight over that :o)

Setting this for 1.2.
Comment 2 Nat Friedman 2001-10-12 07:06:48 UTC
Oops, I meant 1.1.
Comment 3 Luis Villa 2001-11-26 17:04:10 UTC
Because of the decision to remap 1.1->1.2 and 1.2->1.4, I'm going to be
moving a large number of bugs around in the bugzilla. You can just
search on 'body contains' 'Because of the decision to remap' and mark
all as read. Please direct all questions about this change to
evolution@ximian.com, not the bug.

Moving rescheduled 1.2 bugs to future en masse; sorry if your bug didn't make
the cut.
Comment 5 Igor Galchevsky 2005-07-17 18:41:38 UTC
And also it would be very suitable to have possibility to change folder's text
color. Onw of the cases is when one have a lot of folders and don't have
different icons.
Comment 6 André Klapper 2005-10-25 14:20:11 UTC
nice, indeed.

Comment 8 Tuomas Kuosmanen 2006-10-06 12:38:07 UTC
I think the colorisation would make more sense, just like in the calendar. While custom icons would be "fun" I think the colors might solve the problem just as fine.

It might even be useful in searches, colors would add extra info as to which folder each message in the results is in.

However, I have no idea if the list widget supports this.. :) - maybe it's hard to do?
Comment 9 Matthew Barnes 2008-11-19 10:37:25 UTC
Moving this to Mailer. I'm +0 on the idea; no plans to address it myself.
Comment 10 Lucian Langa 2008-11-19 10:51:00 UTC
I've been working on something similar for evolution-rss.
I could probably create a small plugin for custom icons.
Comment 11 Matthew Barnes 2008-11-19 12:45:12 UTC
Off-the-cuff idea, but maybe somehow integrate this with Epiphany's or Firefox's favicon cache, as those would be the type of icons I'd want to use for folders.

This adds a new "Appearance" tab into folder Properties, where one can override the icon of the folder and the text color of it used in the folder tree on the left of the Mail view. The text color is used when the folder is not selected (which makes sense and it's done by the widget itself, out of evolution hands).

Choosing color which makes text invisible in current or future theme used by the user is not a problem of Evolution, but of the user him/her-self :)
