Description Dan Winship 2001-06-08 14:55:27 UTC
A user at HP says that LDAP lookup of S/MIME certificates would be
the killer feature that would make large numbers of people there
switch from Netscape/Mozilla to Evolution.

Not sure if this would require LDAP backend/addressbook IDL changes.
(He said there's a standard place in the LDAP schema to store
certs?)
Comment 1 Jeffrey Stedfast 2001-06-09 19:09:23 UTC
Yea, clahey and I were talking about this a little. I think we can
attempt to implement this especially since I need to write a look-up
for certs for the PGP stuff and the S/MIME stuff anyway.
Comment 2 Nat Friedman 2001-10-12 07:17:28 UTC
Setting this to 1.1, along with the rest of the S/MIME work.
Comment 3 Luis Villa 2001-11-26 17:04:32 UTC
Because of the decision to remap 1.1->1.2 and 1.2->1.4, I'm going to be
moving a large number of bugs around in the bugzilla. You can just
search on 'body contains' 'Because of the decision to remap' and mark
all as read. Please direct all questions about this change to
evolution@ximian.com, not the bug.
Luis

This feature is really needed in corporate environment. Inability to
obtain S/MIME certificates makes whole S/MIME feature almost unusable
in our company.

During the period I was looking forward to Evolution 2.0, I thought
this normal part of S/MIME implementation.

Or is this an old bug? No comments since 2002. Does newer bug report
exist elsewhere?
Comment 7 Jan Mynarik 2005-07-27 17:11:49 UTC
I still need it :-)
Comment 8 Not Zed 2005-08-03 09:29:51 UTC

This had been addressed within bug #704246, thus I mark this as a duplicate of it.
