GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 18115
triple click
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gnome-terminal Version: 1.2.1 Severity: wishlist xterm has very useful (but barely documented) little feature that I would *really* like to see in gnome-terminal. It is activated with XTerm*cutToBeginningOfLine: false in .Xresources. The idea is that a single or double click works as before, to set the mark and select a word. But triple click only selects the word that the cursor is on and everything to the *right*. If you think for a moment about why you might use triple click most often (selecting portions of previous commands) you'll see that this can be very useful. In fact, it seems to me that it is *extremely* rare that one really wants to select an entire line, I almost always want to, for instance, skip prompts. I suppose it would best to keep it an option, but I hope it will be documented better than xterm's feature... it seems to me that most people would use this if they knew about it. jj ------- Bug moved to this database by debbugs-export@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-01-27 15:17 ------- This bug was previously known as bug 18115 at http://bugs.gnome.org/ http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18115 Originally filed under the gnome-core product and gnome-terminal component.
