Description Han Backjart 2005-03-27 22:02:52 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1
Package: vino
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.10.0 2.10.x
Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu
Synopsis: Prompt crash of vino-preferences when disabling 'Allow other users to view your desktop'
Bugzilla-Product: vino
Bugzilla-Component: Preferences Dialog
Bugzilla-Version: 2.10.x
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.10.0)
Description:
Description of the crash:
I got a strange message pop window 'could not grab mouse, a malicious
client ...' (this is all i remember), found it strange, felt tempted by
paranoid mood and when i disabled remote desktop sharing it crashed down
on me once i hit that checkbox.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Open 'Remote Desktop Preferences'
2. Deselect 'Allow other users to view your desktop'
3. Crash

Expected Results:
Not crash. Wait for Close button to be hit.

How often does this happen?
Reproducable (at least at the moment)

Additional Information:
Interesting enough (from my subjective point of view) that requested
changes are comitted even though the app (eg configuration panel)
crashed the same moment. Nice. Would qualify for a minor if
'crash'-messages wouldn't disturb the user experience that much. But
what am I to say. Thanks for looking into this issue.

Debugging Information:

Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/vino-preferences'

(no debugging symbols found)
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1".
