I think that is because of the trayicon. We're currently investigating how to make that more robust.
IMHO, we should entirely drop the tray support. My idea was that the shell includes the configuration dialog for gdesklets) - add an item in the context menu which starts the shell - the user has to start gdesklets-shell via F2 (run program) The tray isn't meant for that purpose anyway. Let's drop it in v0.40 at the latest.
I think we now agreed that the shell should be the central organisational unit. I will mark this report as "ASSIGNED" now. Version 0.36 will have a new shell.
Tray support will be dropped in v0.40. Also see http://wiki.gdesklets.de/ for more information. We'll close the report as soon as the next version will be released.
Change to WONTFIX. You can turn of systemtray support using --no-tray-icon.
