GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 17114
File selection
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gtk Version: all versions Severity: Hideous Death The Gtk fileselector does not include a way to easily change to a different directory, i.e. by typing. See KDE for a good example of how to do it well. ------- Additional Comments From otaylor@redhat.com 2000-11-29 21:43:06 ---- Subject: File selection From: Owen Taylor <otaylor@redhat.com> To: 17114@bugs.gnome.org Message-Id: <ybeofyyb2o5.fsf@fresnel.labs.redhat.com> Date: 29 Nov 2000 21:43:06 -0500 If there is one redeeming feature of the GTK+ file selector, it is that it is easy to do things by typing. Try '../other-dir/<TAB>' (Also can use ~'s for home directories, set up filters - '*.jpg'<TAB>', etc.) The KDE style of including the whole path isn't bad in the entry, but may be confusing for users who don't want to see parts of the file system above their home directory. A complete redesign of the GTK+ file selector is slated for some time in the future. ------- Bug moved to this database by debbugs-export@bugzilla.gnome.org 2001-01-27 14:48 ------- This bug was previously known as bug 17114 at http://bugs.gnome.org/ http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17114 Originally filed under the gtk+ product and general component.
