Description nils.beckmann 2005-03-20 21:58:18 UTC
Distribution: SuSE Linux 9.2 (i586)
Package: gnome-panel
Severity: critical
Version: GNOME2.10.0 2.10.x
Gnome-Distributor: GARNOME
Synopsis: gnome-panel crashed on fresh garnome 2.10 install on SuSE 9.2 (also nautilus crashed)
Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel
Bugzilla-Component: Panel
Bugzilla-Version: 2.10.x
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.10.0)
Description:
Description of the crash:
nautilus and gnome-panel crash after starting gnome

Steps to reproduce the crash:
0. use suse 9.2
1. get garnome 2.10
2. install freetype, hal, dbus from bootstrap
3. make paranoid-install in desktop
4. install devel-files when make complains until make paranoid-install
runs through
5. make .xsession like READE says
6. login in GDM
7. look at the gnome 2.10 logo and be ahppy until [see description]

Expected Results:
gnome 2.10 starts w/o any problem??

How often does this happen?
every time

Additional Information:
i couldnt install fontconfig from bootstrap, README from garnome says i
should, but it appears to be the same version as in SuSE 9.2 (2.2.96).
when i try i segfaults during install (scanning the
/usr/lib/X!!/fonts/URW folder

Maybe too complex to reproduce, but google didnt help me.

Looks like a gnome-vfs problem.
You might want to recompile GNOME with better debugging symbols (see
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/getting-traces.cgi)
