Description Trent "Lathiat" Lloyd 2005-03-18 05:49:02 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu, Hoary

When selecting a directory in the new file selector, it is confusing because if
you double click a directory (the one you want) and then click open, it selects
the first directory in the opened directory. You need to select the directory
in the parent directory to get it.

While this seems like sane behavior, it is confusing for some users, especially
when the old file selector behaved differently, and selected the directory you
had open unless you specifically clicked on a directory in the one that was open.

Possible solution would be to list a current directory item when in directory
selection mode as the first item thats selected, but thats just a suggestion, I
have no idea of the usability or whatever of that, given we don't list either .
or .. currently.

Another possible solution would be to not select the first item when you open a
directory (perhaps just in directory find mode), but that seems unclean to me.

Thoughts?
