GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 170427
Faliure in opening TIF file
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:49:59 UTC
GIMP reports these two message: unknown field with tag 32934(0x80a6) encountered and incorrect count for field "Tag 32934"(0,expecting 1); tag ignored. The file was generated from large format (A0 fax) scanner
Well, does the file load at all? Those messages are coming from libtiff itself, and considering they relate to tag 32934, the app that generated them is probably a bug ridden pile of junk. If you attach the file in question here, we'll see what we can do.
Created attachment 38763 [details] TIF file cannot be loaded
It loads successfully here, even though the messages are present. What version of libtiff do you have? With 3.7.1 it works.
I just installed the 2.2.4 Gimp release and the libtiff dll is 3.6.1.1501
The file loads fine here. Also using 2.2.4 and libtiff 3.6.1.1501.
I loaded Gimp 2.2.4 in a clean Win2000 PC, but the result is the same. I wont to specify that an image is loaded in anyway, but in very poor qality, seems the see the preview image but il large format. In any case thanks for the help.
I think the problem is just the display in GIMP when the image is viewed a a low zoom. The quality isn't very good in this case. But after applying the blur filter to the image, I can't see any noticeable difference at 18% zoom level to the display in the Windows TIFF viewer at the same level. Also, when zooming in, the images start to look identical. So I'd say that there is no problem with loading these TIFF files, just the poor display (which affects all images, btw).
I found the report about the improvement of zoomed-out image display. Resolving this one as a duplicate of bug 76096. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 76096 ***
