Description Patrizio Bruno 2005-03-14 15:01:56 UTC
Why don't integrate file-roller into nautilus using a gnome-vfs module? Whith a
vfs module every gnome application could save files into "compressed folders"
just like ms windows.

Isn't this pretty much a duplicate of 109720?
Comment 2 Teppo Turtiainen 2005-06-18 15:43:41 UTC
Can I just say that this would be really cool. The "archive as a folder"
metaphor is used in other popular operating systems and in my opinion it makes
sense and is very newbie-friendly.

Man. I like this so much.
Comment 7 Nelson Benitez 2006-07-24 19:53:42 UTC
The same thing was implemented recently in Nautilus but with beagle queries, that are shown as folders with files representing the search results. So I think the needed infraestructure already exists...

Hello,

When will file-roller have gnome vfs support for open and extract archive files in remote resources?.

I think that this is very important for desktop productivity.

Best regards.
Comment 9 Teppo Turtiainen 2007-08-19 10:01:50 UTC
This could/should probably be done using the new gvfs virtual file system.

Almost 13 years old... It makes me think how long I trusted gnome, but I assume it is not going to happen
