Description dahutchi 2005-03-14 05:28:42 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg)
Package: nautilus
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.8.0 unspecified
Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc
Synopsis: crash - nautilus tried to play a data cd
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: Desktop
Bugzilla-Version: unspecified
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.8.0)
Description:
Description of the crash:
Nautilus crashed after trying to play a data cd. The cd/dvd-rom device
/dev/hdc icons appears with message something like 'CD\DVD ROM: Audio
CD" even when a data CD is inserted. If I use the GUI method and click
on the icon or I rick-click and ask to open in a new window then the CD
Player 2.8.0 opens and lists "Data CD" - that is all that can be done.
At the shell I issue [non-root ~]$ ls /media/cdrom, nothing appears.
Then [non-root ~]$ mount /media/cdrom, and Nautilus crashes and cannot
be restarted.

Steps to reproduce the crash: ?, these steps produced the crash.
1. Nautilus mistakes data CD for audio CD and try to play as such
instead of open.
2. as non-root user in a terminal issue: ls /media/cdrom, nothing
appears.
3. still non-root, issue: mount /media/cdrom.

Expected Results:
Nautilus crashes and cannot be restarted. The device is mounted properly
though and can be read thereafter.

How often does this happen?
First time.
