Description Simon Morgan 2005-03-05 18:05:45 UTC
Version details: 0.101-0ubuntu2
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu Hoary

I have a directory on another machine on my LAN mounted using gnomevfs. When I
play a video located on the remote machine, the video plays fine but the UI
locks up completely. It also freezes before the window has had a chance to
resize itself to the dimensions of the video. Overlaying seems to continue to
function because I can still move the window around the desktop and the video
portion will move with it.

xine-lib or GSteamer backend? (see the about box).
Comment 2 Simon Morgan 2005-03-06 15:26:30 UTC
Movie Player using xine-lib version 1.0.0
Comment 3 Bastien Nocera 2005-03-17 23:39:46 UTC
Could you try with a more recent version of Totem?
What type of share is the file you're playing on?
If the problem still occurs with a more recent Totem and xine-lib, could you try
getting a backtrace of the hang?
Comment 4 Simon Morgan 2005-03-18 00:47:31 UTC
Isn't 1.0 the latest version? I'm trying to play the file from a
Windows share.

I'm afraid i'm not very experienced with backtraces so don't know
how to go about getting one when a program hangs. What I did was
just hit Ctrl-C to get back to the gdb prompt and do the
following:

(gdb) bt

Hope this helps.

You said you were using an older version of Totem:
Version details: 0.101-0ubuntu2

Does the playback carry on normally after a while?
Comment 6 Simon Morgan 2005-03-20 12:32:20 UTC
Sorry, I'm actually using 1.0.

Yes, playback seems to be fine. It's just the UI that freezes.
Comment 7 Bastien Nocera 2005-03-20 13:00:00 UTC
But does the UI become usable again after a while?
Comment 8 Simon Morgan 2005-03-20 14:05:45 UTC
I'll actually need to wait until bug 170910 is fixed before I can try. GnomeVFS
isn't working at all for me at the moment.
Comment 9 Simon Morgan 2005-03-21 20:34:49 UTC
I don't know whether a gnomevfs or totem patch has changed something but I'm no
longer experiencing this bug.

*** Bug 303964 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 11 Nickolay V. Shmyrev 2006-01-11 08:49:48 UTC
Btw, for me this bug is only reproducable with clearlooks, bluecurve works fine.
Comment 12 Bastien Nocera 2006-01-11 11:10:02 UTC
Nickolay, if you still see the problem, please open a bug against clearlooks.
