GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 168527
More Ukrainian airports should be added
Last modified: 2005-12-06 18:44:10 UTC
Please describe the problem: I found 28 Ukrainian airports missing in Locations.xml. They should be added to it. Steps to reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
Created attachment 37940 [details] [review] Patch adding 28 Ukrainian airporst to Location.xml I don't know where I can get their coordinates, so I omit <coordinates> tags.
This adds new translatable strings. It will have to be punted to 2.12. You should be able to get the coordinates from the NOAA, who keep the METAR database.
Most of the new locations don't appear in the most recent METAR list (dated 2005-Mar-07). Sending the codes to the NOAA server indicates that all but two (Lugansk, Ternopol) have no weather observations available. If there's another server that gives observations for these locations then the planned upgrade for a weather.gnome.org server could include infomation about which URL should be used.
Status anyone?
The only stations in the list that are currently recognized by the METAR server are Lugansk (UKCW) and Ternopol (UKLT). The stations aren't listed in the most recent list (2-Aug-2005) so I don't know what their coordinates are either.
I compose this patch this way: I've just investinated http://www.airport-borispol.kiev.ua/eng/airports/GOM-KRE/ and collected all missing Ukrainian airports. I don't know where to get their coordinates and I don't know whether they have weather observations. But at least some of them belong to big cities and I think they must have weather observation stations. Can you add Lugansk (UKCW) and Ternopol (UKLT) and ingnore rest of airports fo now? I will try to refer to Ukraviatrans and reopen this bug if I have new information about leftover airports.
Added the two working locations. Closing.
