Description Eduard Bloch 2005-02-21 08:16:07 UTC
Please describe the problem:
Every time when the new Gtk-2.6(?) dialog (used by Gimp 2.2.3, for example)
appears, it seems to access all my filesystems for unknown reason. Result: hard
disks beeing suspended suddenly wake up for no reason (no reason because there
is nothing I want to open on them, the dialog even shows a completely different
directory as default).

I don't know why this happens, maybe the open dialog collects some stats (since
du command causes the same thing). However, it really should not.

Steps to reproduce:
1. suspend harddisks (with hdparm)
2. Start gimp or any other application using this dialog
3. Try to open something

Actual results:
Waiting some seconds, a lot of noise (of disks beeing awakened)

Expected results:
just open the dialog with the predefined directory and show files therein

Does this happen every time?

Would be useful to know if you are using the GTK+ or gnome-vfs backend.
(Not sure how to tell easily these days ... maybe Federico has a technique)

This was fixed in bug #319532, I believe.
