Description David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 17:05:50 UTC
Distribution/Version: XP Home SP1 and SP2

When my Wacom Graphire3 (6"x9") tablet pen or mouse is set to the "mouse mode"
the cursor is randomly offset from the actual XY position on the GIMP window.
This renders the program useless since edits do not take place under the cursor
but at the offset location. Setting the tablet in the "pen mode" works as
expected. I have tested this on two computers (XP SP1 and SP2) with the same
behavior. I am using the program to make measurements on scanned pictures and
precise cursor positioning is necessary. Other programs do not exhibit this
behavior, they also don't have the capability to make measurements which is why
I like GIMP.

That would be a problem in the wintab support in the GTK+ library. Please let us
know what version of GTK+ your are using so that we can reassign your bug report.
Comment 2 David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 17:25:34 UTC
I installed using gtk+-2.4.14-setup.exe.
Comment 3 Sven Neumann 2005-02-20 17:28:25 UTC
Can you please update to gtk+-2.6.2, available from the same location and try
again? We cannot file bug reports against gtk+-2.4 since it isn't any longer
maintained.
Comment 4 David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 18:08:43 UTC
Sorry, but I cannot find a windows version of gtk+-2.6.2, can you point me in to
the right location?
Comment 5 David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 18:29:45 UTC
It was suggested that the following be merged with this bug report.

I am using the program to make measurements on scanned pictures. I zoom out,
pick a starting point and then move to the ending point. If the end point is out
of view and I move the cursor past the edge the image it pans as expected but it
will not stop once until it reaches the edge of the window. The end point cannot
be selected if it is not in the image after stopping.

Same place you got the 2.4.14 binaries from:

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-win/gtk+-2.6.2-setup.zip
Comment 7 David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 18:42:59 UTC
Thanks, I just followed the links on the GIMP page to
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html and 2.4.14 is the highest rev
available there. I will install and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

Comment 8 David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 18:58:23 UTC
OK, I removed the old GTK+ files and installed 2.6.2. Sadly, both problems still
exist. Any more ideas? BTW, thanks for the quick response on a Sunday.

Comment 9 Sven Neumann 2005-02-20 19:14:18 UTC
Well, we will reassign the report to GTK+ now.
Comment 10 David E. Myhr 2005-02-20 22:14:35 UTC
Thanks for your help. How will I find out the status?

Comment 12 Robert Ögren 2005-02-21 17:37:04 UTC
The problem with relative/mouse mode is already known, see bug #154657. I'll
mark this report as a duplicate of that, and reopen and reassign bug #167960 as
that is unrelated to this bug.
