Description Antonio Ognio 2005-02-13 18:15:28 UTC
A general spellchecker engine you can configure and customize GNOME-wide as you
do with the proxy would be nice. Every desktop application could take advantage
of it. Maybe new gtk widgets could be written to take advantage of them and
applications would start to move their code to this new spelling-sensitive new
widgets. This is an area where GNOME can take advantage over Windows or other
desktop and a sensible feature to take into account for Enterprise desktops.

Doesn't this already exist in the form of gtk-spell? I think some apps already
use that and you should really file bugs against other apps to make them start
using it.

This should be done at gtk+ level IMO. Related bug is bug 162414 for the text view widget.

We need to integrate some of the libsexy/libview enhancements
