GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 164945
more powerful keybinding for those new keyboards and mouses
Last modified: 2005-07-15 12:21:27 UTC
Hi gnome-devels, some ideas to improve the gnome-keybinding-properties program *) assign more than one key (or key-combination) to one function: In detail i complain because it is not possible to assign more than one key to one function. Keyboards are getting more and more keys, perhaps one would like to have the same function on "strg"+"alt"+right and one special "switch-to-right-desktop". Most games have better control-settings than the gnome-desktop. *) possibility of assigning and changing mouse keys to functions since X-mas i own a logitech mx510, it has 10 buttons - i would like to have a program, imagine gnome-mousebinding-properties, which gives me tha ability to assign functions to them. e.g. i would like to have a mousebutton that works like the "alt" on keyboard does - so pressing it allows you to move the window directly. Another example is - i use spatial browsing with nautilus now, one showed me that double-clicking with button2 opens a folder and closes the parent directly. Well, button2 is my wheel and i dont like clicking with it all the time, espacially when i have lots of unused buttons on my mouse that could do the job. Iam not a experienced programer but if there would be a project working on this i could put some work into it and try to help as good as i can. regards, Sven
Reassigning to control center (for the bindings handled by Metacity, there would also need to be a Metacity change in order to allow more than one keybinding for a given action; there is already a bug about this, though).
The first issue is a duplicate of bug 108689 and the second of bug 140279. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 108689 ***
