Last modified: 2005-05-05 21:58:31 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg) Package: rhythmbox Severity: blocker Version: GNOME2.8.1 0.8.0 Gnome-Distributor: Gnome.org Synopsis: Rythmbox don't play any files Bugzilla-Product: rhythmbox Bugzilla-Component: playback Bugzilla-Version: 0.8.0 BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.8.0) Description: Description of the crash: When open Rythmbox and try to start playing file, it crashes. I have to use BMP or XMMS, but Rythmbox has great library feautre... Additional Information: I have never played music files using GStreamer/Rythmbox - I don't know for what it exists in Gnome. Will it ever work? Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/rhythmbox' (no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". Looks similar to the stack trace in bug 162638 (which has been marked as needinfo), though I'm not sure. Could you install the debuginfo rpms for gstreamer, gstreamer-plugins, and rythmbox from http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/3/i386/debug/, get the crash to occur again, and then paste the new stack trace into this bug report? (See http://bugzilla.gnome.org/getting-traces.cgi for more information)
as you ask - there is a paste from my debuginfo: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/rhythmbox' (no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". That's odd--it doesn't show _any_ debugging information. Why would that happen if you've installed the debuginfo rpms? Maybe someone else knows...
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a bug with gstreamer alsa plug-in that was fixed recently. Are you using gstreamer 0.8.8 and gst-plugins 0.8.7 .?
Yes! I have Gstreamer 0.8.8 and gstreamer-plugins 0.8.7 from Matthew Hall's repository (http://people.ecsc.co.uk/~matt/)
Ah...that would probably explain why the debuginfo packages from fedora didn't help; you should get debuginfo packages that match the real packages you have installed. So in this case, does Matthew Hall's repository provide debuginfo rpms (I tried looking around the site but couldn't find any links to any repository or packages there)? If not, can you rebuild them from source rpm to get them?
