Steps to reproduce:
1. don't know always hangs on my machine, but no idea how to reproduce on another
2.

Stack trace:
In the file gnome-vfs-volume-monitor.c 

_gnome_vfs_get_volume_monitor_internal does not return because the call to 

the_volume_monitor = g_object_new (GNOME_VFS_TYPE_VOLUME_MONITOR_CLIENT, NULL); 

hangs forever!

Why does it hang?? How can I debug it?

It somehow is related that I tried to connect to non existent smb shares.
