Description Vincent BOSSIER 2005-01-12 08:13:21 UTC
1. Check that no xterm nor gnome-terminal is opened.
2. Open an xterm. An xterm icon appears on the left end of the window list.
3. Open a gnome-terminal. The gnome-terminal icon appears at the right of the
xterm icon.
4. Open a second xterm. The xterm icon is well grouped with the first one on the
left end.
5. Close the first xterm: the remaining second xterm icon and the gnome-terminal
icon are swapped.

This step 5 is very annoying: when applications are closed, the associated
window group can move in the panel, forcing people to search again for the right
group.

A group position should remain the same in the panel, whatever member is created
or removed.

Maybe there's already a bug logged for this, but could not find it.

Vincent: rationales.txt in the libwnck module provides a list of tracker bugs by
category. Those can assist in finding duplicates. In particular, bug 155904
(which tracks the "window grouping is totally hosed and is probably a bad idea
altogether" bugs) made this one easy to track down.
