GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 162435
crashes when changing volume
Last modified: 2004-12-29 12:08:02 UTC
Distribution: Debian testing/unstable Package: gnome-media Severity: critical Version: GNOME2.8.1 2.8.x Gnome-Distributor: Ubuntu Synopsis: crashes when changing volume Bugzilla-Product: gnome-media Bugzilla-Component: gnome-volume-control [was: gmix] Bugzilla-Version: 2.8.x BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.8.0) Description: Description of the crash: I have a Creative Soundblaster Live! Platinum sound card. Within my ALSA mixer there are multiple (and I mean lots) of duplicate sets of sliders for "EMU10k1 PCM", "EMU10k1 PCM Send" and also "EMU10k1 PCM Send Routing". In each duplicate set of the latter two there are 12 sliders, for the former there are 3 sliders. If I try to change the volume of the former of these three, the application quits unexpectedly. Steps to reproduce the crash: 1. Have Gnome Volume Control installed with the Creative Soundblaster Platinum Live! Sound card (I'm using Ubuntu Linux). 2. Open Gnome Volume Control 3. Try to change the volume of EMU10k1 PCM Expected Results: Application quits. How often does this happen? Every time. Additional Information: I'm using the Warty release of Ubuntu Linux Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/gnome-volume-control' (no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libthread_db.so.1". Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Please make sure that the package was compiled with debugging symbols and see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/getting-traces.cgi for more information about useful stack traces. Please add the stack trace to bug 156921. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 156921 ***
