GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 162356
Error Message: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive\device\hard disk0\DR0
Last modified: 2008-01-15 12:43:46 UTC
Win Gimp version 2.2.0 The FAQ on the installer page indicated that this error message may occur due to card readers attached to the system. It occurs during start-up at the point of 'Plug-In initiation', and when you try to open a file from the file menu. I have no card reader on my system, but do have an Iomega Zip Drive (drive I: on my system). By testing the access to all the various drives, I found that by simply putting a Zip-Disk in the IZD (what was on the disk seemed to make no difference)prior to starting the program, eliminated the error messages. It would appear that the program is trying to access this particular drive during startup and file access. May just need a command line change.
No, the program isn't trying to access it, it's a known Windows bug. Is your Zip drive a USB or Firewire device? I am going to mark this report as a duplicate because we have been through this several times before and are quite certain that it is not caused by anything wrong in GIMP. Feel free, though, to add comments -- they will be seen. (See also comment #1 for bug #159902 ) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 148678 ***
The Zip drive is an internal drive, and is connected to a Promise Technology Ultra ATA/100 Controller PCI card.
