GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 160744
gnome-panel-screenshot has unexpected behavior
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Distribution: Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg) Package: gnome-panel Severity: minor Version: GNOME2.8.0 2.8.x Gnome-Distributor: Red Hat, Inc Synopsis: gnome-panel-screenshot has unexpected behavior Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel Bugzilla-Component: Panel Bugzilla-Version: 2.8.x Description: Description of Problem: When selecting to capture a window (or hitting Alt-PrintScreen) while the mouse is over the desktop (not within an app window) a desktop capture is done, but where the windows should be I get the background repeated. Also, gnome-panel-screenshot fills in where I have gnome-panels with another copy of the background. This behavior is somewhat odd. I don't know if it is necessarily a bug, but it is unexpected, useless behavior. I would think the user should at least get just a screenshot of the desktop (with no windows) or the possibly the exact same thing you would have if you hit PrintScreen (or omitted the --window option). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Chose a background that has some irregularities to it (not solid color) (b/c it's easier to see this way. 2. Open a couple of terminal windows. 3. Move the mouse so it points to the desktop background (not in a window) 4. Hit Alt-PrintScreen (in Gnome) Actual Results: A weird screenshot where the background is repeated within spaces that were panels and/or windows. Expected Results: Something reasonable, such as the exact same thing you get when you hit PrintScreen, a whole screen screenshot. How often does this happen?
