I'm constanlty surprised to see Linux DE's still using a WIndows 95-like search
interface. I usggest to use a search sidebar like Windows 2000. Intergrated
approach, and also easier abstraction since searching is similar to using a file
manager.

Nautilus is hopefully going to be moving to a persistent search box. This has a number of advantages over having search in the sidebar. Thanks for the report. Closing as NOTABUG, since the sidebar is not an appropriate place for search in the current Nautilus interface.
