GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 160275
can't show windows on other screen in window list applet
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Short version: I need either, preferably both, of these: - ability to make Window List show windows on all Xinerama screens; - ability to have a Window List applet on each screen's panel. Long version: I have a two screen Xinerama setup. I have two bottom panels (one on each screen.) I have the Window List applet on the left screen's panel. Since upgrading from FC2 to FC3, the panel now only lists windows that are on the left screen. I actually think that's not bad behavior -- except for the fact that it doesn't seem to be possible to have more than one Window List applet. When I try to add a Window List to the right screen's panel, I get: The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_WindowListApplet". Details: Failed to resolve, or extend '!prefs_key=/apps/panel/profiles/ default/applets/applet_15/prefs;background=none:; orient=up;size=large;locked_down=false Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration? In fact, I got this same error in FC2 when I tried to add two window lists, but I didn't care that much back then, because my single window list displayed all my windows. But the current situation means that my right-screen windows are never accessible from the menu. I would have expected the "show only windows on this screen" behavior to be affected by the Window List Content [ ] Show windows from current workspace [x] Show windows from all workspaces preference, but it is not. The "only this screen" behavior appears to be hardcoded and unchangable. gnome-panel-2.8.1-3 libgnome-2.8.0-2 Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg) Linux 2.6.9-1.681_FC3smp #1 SMP Thu Nov 18 15:19:10 EST 2004 i686 athlon i386
Should be fixed with libwnck 2.9.3. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 154040 ***
Cool. Does libwnck 2.9.3 fix just the "show both screen's windows in one tasklist" bug, or does it also fix the "can't have two tasklists" bug? (I don't see mention of that problem in bug 154040, so should I report a new bug for that part?)
Ooops. I had forgotten about this part of the bug. I don't think it fixes the "can't have two tasklists" bug. You should probably open a new bug. I'm not sure what's happening here... Probably a multihead problem (I don't think it will crash if you add a second window list on the left screen). Thanks
