I would like for the default "extract" directory be the last one chosen in the
previous session.

Patch for last extract location
Comment 3 Eddy de Boer 2011-03-02 08:16:01 UTC
Why is the patch not implemented?
Comment 4 Paolo Bacchilega 2011-03-02 09:57:40 UTC
To some users it makes more sense to use the archive's directory as default extraction location, we cannot serve both needs in this case and have to choose one behaviour.

On a side note the patch should be updated because gconf is not used anymore.
Comment 5 Robert Roth 2015-01-07 16:47:15 UTC
@Paolo: How should we decide which one to use:
* the archive's directory
* a pre-defined default extraction location

Should we have a special value for the pre-defined extraction location for the archive's current directory?

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time.

If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/

Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
