Description José L. Redrejo Rodríguez 2004-11-26 11:18:03 UTC
-Rename the linux box to any name with uppper case letters
- Check that the new name is written in /etc/hosts
- Reboot the computer (rebooting network is not enough)

Now , login, and execute nautilus network:
,or just open the Network Servers icons.

The only computer that nautilus see is itself, and the only workgroup is its own
workgroup. It doesn't find any other workgroup or pc in the network.

If the pc name is written only in lower case letters, nautilus finds every
computer and workgroup.

Which version of gnome-vfs and gnome-vfs-extras are you using?
Comment 2 José L. Redrejo Rodríguez 2004-11-26 12:10:02 UTC
2.8.3, from Debian gnome-vfs2 sid package
Comment 3 José L. Redrejo Rodríguez 2004-11-26 13:27:28 UTC
Forget it, I have noticed the problem was that there was another pc with the
same name in the network.

Probably this is a bug of the smb protocol, but using another tools, like the
xfce file browser it finds all the pc in the network. With nautilus it only can
find itself.

Looks like a bug in smbs auth code!
