As of v2.2 pre2, I have noticed that after hitting OK when loading an existing
image or creating a new image, there is a delay of 3 to 4 seconds before the
image is actually loaded or created.  The user interface still responds normally
during the wait time.

All earlier versions do not have this problem.

It would make sense to read the release notes where this has been mentioned
explicitely.
