Description eagsalazar 2004-11-12 19:30:00 UTC
Connecting to smb share does not work using nautilus. This same share is
accesible via smbclient or kde or xfce. My network requires domain logins. I
did set my workgroup in gconf but that didn't help. I am never even asked for a
username/password/domain. When I try to connect, I get this popup dialog:

"The folder contents could not be displayed.
You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents of "Windows
Network: impinj-pc-0010"."

I can browse to this share but it just doesn't work when I actually try to
access it. Other shares on other servers in my network work ok and I am
correctly prompted for info. Most shares on my network at work have never
worked however and all have always worked using similar commands on smbclient or
kde.

I don't really know a lot about smb so please let me know what other information
you need.

Thanks.

Which version of gnome-vfs and gnome-vfs-extras are you using?

Sorry, I accidentally entered this as a new bug. This is really bug 157922
where I have many comments. I'm still not clear however on why there is any
question of gnome-vfs-extras at all. gnome-vfs-extras is not even part of the
platform release for gnome 2.8.1 right? And as far as I can tell, it hasn't
been for a while. gnome-vfs smb is provided in the gnome-vfs package now isn't
it? At least that source tarball has all the smb libraries and files in it.
And in redhat distros it is provided in the gnome-vfs2-smb package. Do I have
both these bugs miscategorized? Should these be bugs agaist gnome-vfs? instead
of gnome-vfs-extras?

Thanks.
