Which version of nautilus-cd-burner are you using? Does n-c-b 2.8.5 fix it?
synaptic tells me I already use 2.8.5 (package name is 2.8.5-0ubuntu1). So 2.8.5 doesn't fix it. But I really can't tell whether this is caused by the still early Ubuntu hoary release I use, or by n-c-b. Thx for the fast reply :-)).
Could you attach the output of "src/list_cddrives" from the nautilus-cd-burner sources?
Don't have the sources right now, but perhaps the following bug reports help a bit #3271, #2751| #2598 at https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com
There you go... First without media: root@basti:~/nautilus-cd-burner-2.8.5 # ./list_cddrives name: HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8162B device: /dev/hdc max_speed_read: 24 type: CD Drive/DVD Drive media type: Couldn't open media media size: -0.00 megs CD-Recorder/SCSI devices only: max_speed_write: 0 id: /dev/hdc name: _NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A device: /dev/hdd max_speed_read: 24 type: CD Recorder/DVD-RW/DVD+R/DVD+RW/CD Drive/DVD Drive media type: Couldn't open media media size: -0.00 megs CD-Recorder/SCSI devices only: max_speed_write: 32 id: /dev/hdd Now with media inserted: root@basti:~/nautilus-cd-burner-2.8.5 # ./list_cddrives name: HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8162B device: /dev/hdc max_speed_read: 24 type: CD Drive/DVD Drive media type: Unknown media, CD drive is busy media size: -0.00 megs CD-Recorder/SCSI devices only: max_speed_write: 0 id: /dev/hdc name: _NEC DVD_RW ND-2500A device: /dev/hdd max_speed_read: 24 type: CD Recorder/DVD-RW/DVD+R/DVD+RW/CD Drive/DVD Drive media type: Unknown media, CD drive is busy media size: -0.00 megs CD-Recorder/SCSI devices only: max_speed_write: 32 id: /dev/hdd
As you've already compiled nautilus-cd-burner ;) Could you get the backtrace, as above, with the symbols?
I've uploaded a debugging package here: http://people.ubuntulinux.org/~seb128/nautilus-cd-burner_2.8.5-0ubuntu1_i386.deb Please try with it, you should get a full backtrace
