Description Kevin Breit 2004-10-19 18:01:34 UTC
We should be able to edit EXIF tags. This would include not only editing one
file, but being able to edit the date tag in multiple photos.
Comment 1 Colin Marquardt 2005-07-28 21:30:42 UTC
I'd especially emphasize the ImageDescription EXIF tag (see also
http://www.burtonini.com/blog//computers/nautilus-exif-2005-07-28-14-50).

IMO, this should be in the place of the current "Name" text entry field, which
seems to be just the file name. It could still use the file name if either the
ImageDescription is not set or is one of a set of known useless default contents
(e.g. for my camera, it is "OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA ").

Regarding editing the date/time of photos, please see bug 302567.
Comment 3 Jonas Bergler 2006-01-11 09:21:06 UTC

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 302567 ***
Comment 4 Gabriel Burt 2006-01-17 01:15:03 UTC
Reopening because I think this bug is asking for more than just date/time editing, it's asking to be able to edit all (or many) exif tags. This bug is also older.

Related bug #322528 requests the ability to edit the ImageDescription field.

I would use this to mark all the old film photos I have scanned. They need to have exif tags and details added to them.
Comment 6 colin johnson 2006-09-19 17:44:43 UTC
I'd like to second this enhancement as well.

I've noticed that when I update keywords in the EXIF data with a tool like Photoshop and I then upload that photo to flickr the keywords get mapped directly to flickr tags. Having this "just work" with f-spot tags without having to tell f-spot to export the metadata would be great.

Comment 7 Joe Harnish 2009-01-07 16:20:28 UTC
I would really enjoy this feature also. Right now I use an external program that can even create exif tags onto scanned images called reveal from this project: http://albumshaper.sourceforge.net/
Comment 8 Matt 2009-09-23 12:14:11 UTC
I would like to add that i think this would be a great idea. To go along with this i would like to suggest the ability to select any number of photos in the main screen and then be able to drag them anywhere onto the timeline. This would allow us to easily change and set the date field of the meta data of when the pictures were taken.

I am trying to migrate from Lightroom to F-Spot... the lack of this feature is somewhat of a roadblock

I agree this would be very helpful.
