GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 155479
crashes on importing large samba share
Last modified: 2005-08-29 15:42:38 UTC
1) mount a samba share with a large collection of music files 2) import that share with rhythmbox 3) while rhythmbox does indeed start importing songs, after a while it crashes. I have no way to tell whether this is due to the fact that the share is served by samba, or because the collection is very large (52 GiB of MP3's), or just because it ran into a corrupted MP3.

Quite likely a file that gstreamer chokes on, see the second question at http://rhythmbox.org/faq.html to see how to locate this file.
I hadn't read the FAQ, I apologize. The incriminated file is a .rm file (Real Media). Should I fill a gstreamer bug report instead? I will make the file available upon request. [0x81e0770] [rb_metadata_load] rb-metadata-gst.c:468 (09:54:35): loading metadata for uri: file:///mnt/storage/Muzikkkkkkk/Reggae/bob%20marley%20lives/BMW%20-%20One%20love%20peace%20concert%20-rm/peacestr.rm [0x81e0770] [rb_metadata_gst_typefind_cb] rb-metadata-gst.c:421 (09:54:35): found type application/vnd.rn-realmedia
Np for not reading the faq, it's mainly there to avoid typing the same thing over and over in bug reports ;) Reassigning the bug to gstreamer, but that may already be fixed
