Description Amit Aronovitch 2004-10-02 09:22:08 UTC
Distribution: Debian 3.1
Package: nautilus
Severity: normal
Version: GNOME2.6.1 2.6.3
Gnome-Distributor: Debian
Synopsis: Nautilus crashes while copying files (from vfat to ext3 partition)
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: general
Bugzilla-Version: 2.6.3
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.6.1.1)
Description:
Description of the crash:
When copying many files from old vfat disk (/dev/hdb1) to the main ext3
(/dev/hda6) , it starts well, but crashes after a few good copies.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Have many files on an old vfat disk. Files include unicode filenames
(many hebrew names).
2. Using nautilus --browser, select a few dirs on the vfat disk, and
drag them into another nautilus window showing /tmp
3. The window with the progress bar appears and files start being
happily copied, but after some time - crash - nautilus dies.

Expected Results:
anything but crash

How often does this happen?
Depending on amount of files selected. When selecting enough files -
almost 100%.

Additional Information:
using linux 2.6.8 (debian sid)
Might be some kernel/filesystem prob - but would be nice if we could get
a nice error report to send upstream instead of a crash...
