GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 153995
Gedit vs. Text Editor, revisited.
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Two years ago, relabelling gedit as "Text Editor" within its UI was discussed, and decided against, in this bug: http://bugs.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87265 However, given the general trend of GNOME over this time, I'd like to propose that this decision be reconsidered.
Why should I reconsider it? As I said two years ago... I think this bug should be closed as FIXITINYOUROWNCOPYIFYOUREALLYWANT. Other opinions?
agreed, also because - having the functional text name in the menu makes sense because the user is looking for something to edit file, i.e. a text editor, but once the application is up and running the user can clearly see that he is using a text editor and I see nothing bad in telling him that he is using the *gedit* text editor - I do not see any trend over time: afaics epipnay, evolution, file-roller etc all use their name in the title bar PS: there was no need to open a new bug, if you really thought this decision should be reconsidered you could have added a comment or reopen the old bug
I'm sorry, but there was no option to change the status of the old bug. (the only action that wasn't disabled was to add a CC)
