Description Will Jessop 2004-09-01 10:52:37 UTC
When using the line number search tool (via menu or keyboard shortcut) it is not
possible to close the line search dialog using the 'Escape' key as it is with
other windows such as the text search dialog.

Even if not exactly a dup of bug #115070 I am closing this one. Feel free to add
a note there saying that the "go to line" dialog is affected by the same issue.

As much as I would welcome the use of the ESC key, this doesn't seem to be
changed anytime soon... read the other bug for details, the short summary is
that the hig states that ESC should work only when you undo an action.

Note also - as you can see in bug #115070 - that the upstream version of gedit
doesn't use the ESC key for the search dialog, that is a patch that Red Hat (and
maybe others) ships in its package. So feel free to report the issue in Red
Hat's bugzilla so that they will also add a patch for the "go to line" dialog in
order to make the behavior consistent.
