Description Keith Lea 2004-08-28 00:30:58 UTC
When I try to delete a file which is on another filesystem than my home folder,
I get a dialog that looks like this:

** Error While Deleting **
* Error "Not on same file system" while deleting /root-temp/k3bCdCopy1".
* Would you like to continue?
* [ Skip ] [ Cancel ] [ Retry ]
****

There are many problems with this dialog; this bug report addresses only one
problem.

This dialog should be worded more friendly, like:

[bold]Some files could not be moved to the trash.[end bold]

The files could not be moved to the Trash because they are not on the same
volume as your Trash bin.

do you still have this issue ? what version of nautilus are you using ?
Comment 4 Keith Lea 2005-02-25 00:36:51 UTC
I still have this issue, but I'd like the definition to be widened to say that
nautilus needs clearer, more concise error messages when deleting files. I'm
using Nautilus 2.9. Try deleting a file that you don't have permission to
modify. Nautilus gives an ugly error message like the one I described in my
original report.

Thanks for your bug report!
Comment 6 Emmanuel Fleury 2008-11-10 15:01:27 UTC
Isn't this issue obsoleted by the new way of handling Trash ???
Comment 7 Cosimo Cecchi 2008-11-10 20:30:07 UTC
I'm not sure which new way you're referring to, but if anything, all the dialogs should be much more friendly now; so I guess it's safe to close this as OBSOLETE.

Reporters, if you still have this kind of issues with Nautilus 2.24.x, please file new bug reports with screenshots of the current behavior, thanks.
